Reflection on Questionnaire Reliability

To assess the reliability of my questionnaire, I calculated Cronbach’s Alpha for the scale measuring refusal strategies in money-related requests. The result was 0.82, which indicates good internal consistency. This suggests that the items in the scale are measuring the same underlying construct and are reasonably reliable.

I feel fairly confident in the reliability of my scale; however, I am aware that there is still room for improvement. One challenge I faced when designing the items was ensuring that all questions were consistent in meaning while avoiding repetition. It was sometimes difficult to balance clarity and variation in wording without introducing ambiguity.

Another challenge was making sure that each item focused on a single idea. In earlier drafts, some questions were slightly double-barreled, which could have affected the reliability of the scale.

In the next draft, I would improve my questionnaire by refining unclear items, simplifying wording, and possibly removing items with low item-total correlations. I would also consider conducting a pilot test to further enhance the scale’s reliability.
