  • For TLI (Tucker-Lewis Index): I used ≥ 0.90 as an acceptable fit.
  • For SRMR (Standardized Root Mean Square Residual): I used ≤ 0.08 as an acceptable fit.

Scholarly reference/justification
These cut-off values are commonly suggested in research, especially by Kline (2016), who states that values around these levels indicate a reasonable model fit.

Whether my model met these standards
My model results were:

  • TLI = 0.88
  • SRMR = 0.07

The SRMR meets the standard, but the TLI is slightly below 0.90. This means the model is acceptable but not strong.

I agree with your thresholds, as TLI ≥ 0.90 and SRMR ≤ 0.08 are commonly accepted (Kline, 2016). Your interpretation is reasonable—SRMR is acceptable, while TLI is slightly low. I think a model that “almost” fits can still be acceptable if it is theoretically strong and other indices are good. However, it would still be better to consider some modifications to improve the fit.
