I chose the Thesis introduction of Ms. Dinh Tran Thuy Lieu, titled "The Impacts of Edpuzzle Mobile App on Listening Skills for Non-English Major Students at SaigonTech College."
- What makes this introduction effective?
- To me, this introduction is effective because it is clear and very well-organized. Started with a broad topic (the changes in language teaching and technology), then gradually narrowed down to a specific issue (listening skills and the use of the Edpuzzle app).
- The ideas are well constructed, supported by previous studies about difficulties with listening skills. Also, the introduction is clearly divided into appropriate sections.
2. How are the background, problem statement, research questions, and significance presented?
- The background: presented with general trends, then focuses on MALL, listening skills, and the app. The context is logically arranged.
- Problem statement: reviewing previous studies, pointing out the research gap, which makes the problem clear.
- The RQs: short and straight to the point, match the problem and research aims.
- The significance: explains how this study helps teachers, learners, and researchers, and clarifies key terms.
3. What will you borrow or adapt from this introduction for your own thesis?
- I would borrow the structure, also the funnel approach.
- I would also come up with more focused questions that can be easily answered.
I'm looking forward to your feedback! Thank you!
