My Research topic: Grammar learning strategies used by Grade 3 EFL young learners using the Beehive 3 textbook in a bilingual school in Ho Chi Minh City.
Research questions:
RQ1: What classroom behaviours and study practices do Grade 3 students use when learning grammar through the Beehive 3 textbook?
RQ2: How do students experience grammar lessons in a bilingual English classroom?
RQ3: What differences can be observed between higher and lower performing students in their engagement with grammar learning?
Objective:
- To build a descriptive profile of Grade 3 students' grammar learning practices in a bilingual school context
- To gain insight into students' perceptions, difficulties, and preferences in grammar lessons.
- To examine patterns of variation in learning engagement among students with different levels of achievement.
- To suggest practical implications for grammar teaching at the primary level.
Planned methodology:
This study will adopt a mixed-methods approach.
- Quantitative data will be collected through grammar pre- and post- tests and a questionnaire administered to approximately 20 Grade 3 students.
- Qualitative data will include semi-structured interviews with around 8 students from different achievement levels and classroom observation.
- The two datasets will be analyzed separately and then integrated to provide a comprehensive understanding of students' grammar learning practices and outcomes.
I'm looking forward to your feedback. Thank you!
