My working research title/topic: EXAMINING THE USE AND ACCURACY OF COMPLEX SENTENCE STRUCTURES IN ELS JUNIORS’ ACADEMIC WRITING AT HUFLIT

My main research aim/objectives is to examine the use and ACCURACY OF COMPLEX SENTENCE STRUCTURES IN ELS JUNIORS’ ACADEMIC WRITING AT HUFLIT, from there, I can notice common mistakes of Ss in academic writing and give out suggestions for them to enhance.

My research questions (2–3 max):

1.         What types of complex sentence structures are used by ELS JUNIORS in academic writing at HUFLIT?

2.         To what extent do students demonstrate syntactic complexity in their written texts?

My planned methodology (quant/qual/mixed): A mixed method will be used, combining by an online survey for students to complete and interviews some HUFLIT lecturers related to this topic

Your research topic is clear regarding participants, scope, and feasibility.
But I'm afraid the research problem is still quite broad. Have you considered narrowing the focus to examine only certain types of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses, adverbial clauses, etc.?
Regarding your RQ1, would it help to define the research questions more specifically by focusing on the frequency of specific complex sentence patterns, rather than describing their use in general?
