Dear Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ and Classmates,

This is my brief description for the "Peer Preview: My Research Topic and RQs".

Research Topic: The Effects of AI-Assisted Feedback on Improving Basic English Writing Skills of IT Students at a Vocational College in Ho Chi Minh city.

Research Questions:

  •     RQ1: To what extent does AI-assisted feedback improve the basic English writing skills of vocational IT students, particularly in terms of grammatical accuracy, clarity, and IT-related vocabulary?
  •     RQ2: What are vocational IT students’ perceptions of using AI-assisted feedback in English writing activities?

Objectives:

  •    To investigate the effectiveness of AI-assisted feedback in improving basic English writing skills of vocational IT students, with a focus on grammatical accuracy, clarity, and IT-related vocabulary.
  •    To explore vocational IT students’ perceptions of using AI-assisted feedback in English writing activities.

Planned Methodology:

This study will adopt a mixed-methods approach.

  • Quantitative data will be collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure changes in students’ writing performance without AI support.
  •     Qualitative data will be gathered through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to explore students’ attitudes, confidence, and learning experiences with AI-assisted feedback.

I am looking forward to your feedback. Thank you!

Hi Ms. Hanh, I see your research topic very interesting and engaging. However, I would like to offer a small suggestion. Would it help to define more clearly what “basic English writing skills” mean in your research context? For example, you could specify whether the study focuses on sentence-level writing, short paragraphs, or particular task types such as emails, short descriptions, or IT-related texts. I think that will be avoid avoid ambiguity and strengthen the construct validity of your study. I hope this suggestion is helpful for you.
