🎓 Welcome Message

Welcome to English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) — a postgraduate-level course designed for educators, researchers, and practitioners who aspire to teach academic subjects through English with confidence, clarity, and creativity.

This course explores the dynamic intersection between language, pedagogy, and internationalization in higher education. It offers a comprehensive framework for understanding how EMI shapes teaching, learning, and academic identity in multilingual contexts such as Vietnam and across the Asia-Pacific region.

🧭 Course Overview

Throughout this course, you will:

  • Examine global and local perspectives on EMI implementation.

  • Explore pedagogical models that balance content learning and language support.

  • Practice designing inclusive, technology-enhanced EMI lessons.

  • Develop assessment literacy, digital pedagogy, and ethical awareness in EMI contexts.

  • Engage in reflective discussions and applied projects that bridge theory with your teaching practice.

Each chapter combines academic readings, interactive forums, auto-graded quizzes, and practical assignments that progressively build your competence as an EMI professional.

💡 About the Course Design

This course was designed with the support of the TARI Team (Training and Applied Research Institute) at HUFLIT University. It represents a blend of academic rigor, creative design, and technological innovation.

To make the learning experience rich and multimodal, I have integrated AI-powered tools to:

  • 🎬 Create and narrate video lectures, ensuring consistent quality and accessibility.

  • ✍️ Refine English language expression, maintaining academic precision and clarity.

  • 🎨 Enhance visual design and storytelling, using generative design tools for diagrams, slides, and banners.

Special thanks to the TARI Design Team for their exceptional work in creating the course’s graphic identity, illustrations, and multimedia assets. Their contribution ensures that every lesson feels modern, intuitive, and visually engaging.

🧠 Pedagogical Philosophy

This course follows the philosophy that EMI is not merely teaching in English, but teaching through English — where communication, cognition, and culture intersect.
Learning activities are grounded in:

  • Constructivist pedagogy — encouraging collaboration and reflection.

  • Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) — emphasizing both disciplinary knowledge and linguistic growth.

  • Digital transformation in education — preparing educators for AI-augmented, technology-rich classrooms.
