Qualitative research could help me understand my research problem in a deeper and more meaningful way compared to a quantitative approach. While quantitative research mainly focuses on numerical data such as test scores, percentages, or survey responses, qualitative research allows me to explore students’ feelings, attitudes, and learning experiences when using educational games in vocabulary lessons. This approach can provide rich descriptions of how games influence students’ motivation, engagement, and classroom interaction.

For my study, interviews and classroom observation would be the most relevant qualitative methods. Interviews with students and teachers can help me understand their personal opinions about using games in English classes, while observation can show how students actually behave, participate, and interact during the lessons.

I also see strong potential for a mixed-methods approach in my project. For example, I can use questionnaires and test results to collect quantitative data, then combine them with interviews or observations to explain the reasons behind the findings. This combination would make the research more comprehensive and reliable.
