I found a 2014 BMW 528i with 110k km for what seems like a good price, clean interior, and the seller claims full service history. I'm not a mechanic though and I've heard horror stories about used BMWs with hidden issues like timing chain problems, oil leaks, and cooling system failures that look fine on a test drive. I'm thinking I should pay for a proper inspection before handing over any cash, but I'm not sure if a general mechanic would know what to look for on these cars. I've been searching for a best-in-class inspection abu dhabi service that specializes in BMWs and can put it on a lift, check for oil pan leaks, look at the valvetronic system, and scan for hidden codes that the seller might have cleared. Has anyone here paid for a pre purchase inspection on a used BMW and had it save them from a bad buy? Or did the inspector just point out minor wear and tear stuff that you would have accepted anyway? Trying to decide if 500 dirhams is worth it or if I should just trust my gut and buy it. Would love to hear from anyone who's done this. Thanks.
