Figured I'd share my experience since I was asking for advice on here a while back. We finally replaced all our old wooden pallets with medium duty plastic pallets for our bottling line and warehouse storage. Overall I'm pretty happy, but there are a couple of things nobody warned me about. The good stuff first, they're so much easier to clean, no splinters anywhere, and they slide into the racking way smoother than wood ever did. Also no more worrying about broken boards dropping a pallet of glass bottles, huge relief there. But here's the weird thing, they're actually more slippery than I expected when stacked. We had a pallet shift on the top of a rack during a forklift bump and it slid about six inches before stopping. Never had that happen with wood. We're putting rubber mats on the top of each one now which solves it but adds cost. Also the UV resistance seems fine so far but we keep them mostly indoors. The weight savings is real though, my back thanks me every time I have to move empties around. Would I switch back? No way. Just wish someone had mentioned the slipperiness thing upfront. Anyone else notice this or did we get a weird smooth finish batch?
