I agree with your point that explaining the practical value of the research can make it more convincing. However, I think it would be even stronger if you also mentioned how the introduction engages readers at the beginning.

Your topic is very timely! Regarding your second question, I noticed it’s a bit double-barreled because it asks about [Topic X] and [Topic Y] in the same sentence. You might get clearer results if you split these into two separate questions so you can see exactly which part the respondent agrees with.
