I’ve been going back and forth on whether to book a desert trip or not because my schedule in Morocco is pretty tight. I really want to see the Sahara, even if it’s just for a night, but I keep reading about the long drives. For anyone who has done a 2 days tour from marrakech to merzouga, how bad is the driving really? I see it’s about 10 hours each way, but I’m wondering if the stops along the way (like at Ait Benhaddou and in the Atlas Mountains) make it feel less monotonous. I don't mind long days if the scenery keeps changing, but I don't want to feel like I'm on a bus the whole time and barely remember the desert. Just trying to figure out if the magic of the sunrise over the dunes is worth that much time in the car.
